Frequently Asked

Questions

What is consultation?

Consultation involves working with an experienced professional who is an expert on a variety of subjects. I educate, guide, direct, and advise.

How is clinical consultation different from clinical supervision?

Clinical Consultant:
A clinical consultant is a fully licensed professional who provides specialized advice and expertise to fully licensed therapists regarding specific issues or challenges they face in their practice. Their role is typically short-term and focused on specific problems or areas of improvement. Clinical consultants can offer guidance on a wide range of topics, including treatment approaches, patient management, and organizational strategies. They may also provide educational resources, support, and feedback to help therapists enhance their skills and effectiveness in addressing particular issues.

Clinical Supervisor:
A clinical supervisor, on the other hand, has a more long-term and comprehensive role in overseeing the professional development and performance of therapists. They are legally responsible for the supervisee and provide ongoing support and education until the supervisee is fully licensed. They provide ongoing support, mentorship, and evaluation to a therapist who is not yet fully licensed to ensure they are meeting professional standards and delivering effective care to their patients. Clinical supervisors often work closely with therapists to develop their skills, monitor their progress, and address any ethical or professional issues that arise. They play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and integrity of clinical practice within an organization.

Are consultation services covered or reimbursed by insurance?

No, consultation services are not covered by insurance as they are not considered a healthcare service.

How much does each session cost?

Each consultation session is $300 per hour. Payment is due at the time of service. Payment can be made with a debit or credit card via HoneyBook's secure payment system. Each session is a minimum of one hour.

Are consulting sessions confidential or HIPAA-Compliant?

While I strive to maintain your privacy to a certain extent, consultation services are not bound by HIPPA or confidentiality laws as they are not healthcare or mental healthcare services.

How long does the initial consultation take?

The duration of a consultation depends solely on the time required to understand and resolve the issue at hand.

What does group consultation look like?

Group consultation is a collaborative process where a group of professionals, usually within the same field, come together to discuss and address specific issues, challenges, or areas for improvement. This method leverages the collective expertise and experience of the group members to provide comprehensive and multifaceted solutions. As a consultant, I will act as the group’s facilitator to help guide discussion to ensure it remains focused and productive. I am also available for teaching and presenting in a group setting.
